David Martin has extensive experience in the field of anesthesiology. David is currently working as the Vice President for Scientific Affairs at the American Society of Anesthesiologists, starting in October 2022. Prior to this position, they held various roles at Mayo Clinic, including Professor of Anesthesiology since April 2019 and Associate Professor of Anesthesiology from July 1996 to April 2019.

David Martin completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Indiana University Bloomington. Following this, they pursued further education at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where they obtained an MD and PhD in the fields of Medicine and Neuroscience. The duration of their studies at this institution spanned from 1985 to 1992.
