Jim Rathmell is an accomplished leader in the field of anesthesiology, currently serving as Chief of Enterprise Anesthesiology at Mass General Brigham since July 2022. As a Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School since 2011, Rathmell has also held significant roles at Brigham and Women's Hospital, including Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine since June 2015. Additionally, Rathmell is the Editor-in-Chief of Anesthesiology for the American Society of Anesthesiologists® as of January 2024. Previous positions include Executive Vice Chair and Chief of the Division of Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital from July 2006 to June 2015. Rathmell's educational background includes an Executive MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and medical degrees from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, complemented by a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University.
