Buddhi Abeysekera has extensive work experience in network engineering and operations. Currently, they serve as the Senior Director of Network Engineering and Operations at American University, where they oversee infrastructure strategy and operations for multiple campuses. Prior to this, Buddhi held various roles at the University of Miami, including Director of Information Technology - Network Infrastructure and Manager & Senior Network Architect. In these positions, they led teams responsible for the architecture, evolution, and support of mission-critical connectivity solutions, such as switches, routers, and firewalls. Buddhi also played a key role in planning and managing university-wide internet access. Throughout their career, Buddhi has demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing network solutions, including Gigabit backbones, WAN connections, and VoIP platforms.
Buddhi Abeysekera earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Management from the University of Miami Herbert Business School from 2004 to 2005. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Miami. In addition, they hold certifications as an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS) obtained in September 2020, and a Six Sigma Champion Certification from the University of Miami.
