Karen Kurciska has a diverse work experience in the financial and risk management industry. Karen most recently served as the SVP Capital Markets Governance and Internal Controls at AmeriHome Mortgage Company, LLC. Prior to that, they founded and served as the Principal of Quercus Business Services, where they provided solutions for business strategy, operational effectiveness, risk management, and governance. Karen has also held positions as the Senior Operations Risk Manager and the Director of Audit and Risk Services at Mortgage Quality Management & Research (MQMR), where they worked closely with lenders and warehouse banks to manage risk and enhance the borrower lending experience. Earlier in their career, Karen held various roles at PennyMac, Countrywide, Topanga Oaks Classical Curriculum, Drenex, Society for Savings, First Investment Corp, and Siegal, McConner, and Kainen, where they gained experience in enterprise risk management, curriculum development, internal audit, and personal banking.

Karen Kurciska studied at the University of Arizona from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on Liberal Studies. In addition to their degree, they obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 1997, they became a Certified Internal Auditor through The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. Four years later, in 2001, Karen acquired the Certified Investments and Derivatives Auditor certification from the Investment Training and Consulting Institute, Inc.
