Jacob Olshansky is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Amherst College since July 2020, previously serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Northwestern University from September 2017 to June 2020, focusing on photoexcited charge transfer and spin dynamics in DNA. Prior to that, Jacob was a Lecturer and Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley from August 2012 to August 2017, where responsibilities included instructing introductory chemistry labs and conducting research on charge transfer from semiconducting nanocrystals. Jacob's earlier experience includes a role as a Research Assistant at Haverford College, working on hydrothermal synthesis of novel metal oxides, and at Stanford University, studying hydrogen evolution reactions. Jacob holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics from Haverford College.
