Akosua Obeng Gyimah

Human Rights Defender at Amnesty International Canada

Akosua Obeng Gyimah is a PhD candidate in Law at Lancaster University, where roles include Graduate Teaching Assistant, Associate Lecturer, University Teacher, Doctoral Researcher, and Assistant Dean since October 2020. In addition to academic responsibilities, Akosua supervises students, conducts disciplinary hearings, and participates in college management. As an Associate and Law tutor at Lancaster University Law School, Akosua focuses on legal academic writing skills. Experience also includes public policy consultation with Voice of African Youth for Good Governance and serving as Vice Chair, while engaging as a Human Rights Defender with Amnesty International Canada. Self-employed since 2007, Akosua provides social commentary, serves as a clinical consultant in healthcare, and analyzes research and policy for a political party. Educational achievements include an LLM in International Law and Diplomacy, an MSW in Clinical/Medical Social Work, and an MA in Geography, complemented by a BA with First Class Honours in Human Geography from the University of Ghana.
