Laila Hotait

Laila Hotait has extensive experience in the film and media industry. Laila currently serves as the Director of ARS GUERRILLA, an incubator and production company for innovative audiovisual projects. Laila has also worked as a Cinema Curator and Jury Member for the W3:NOW film festival and platform. In addition, they have served as a Script Writer for the Arabian Horses section of Lola Films and as a Teacher at IE University, where they taught courses on digital and visual media. Laila has also held key roles at Amnesty International, including Director of the 2021 Creative Campaign and Director of the 2019 Creative Campaign against feminicide in Mexico. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Director, Scriptwriter, and Script Consultant for various film projects, and they served as the Director of Development & Original Content at La Rueda. Laila Hotait obtained a Master of Fine Arts in Directing and Scriptwriting with a focus on Cinema from San Francisco State University in the USA from 2006 to 2009. Later, they pursued a Doctorate in Audiovisual Communication with Cum Laude Mention, specializing in History Research Through Media, from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Additionally, they also hold a Bachelor's degree in Arabic Studies from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain.
