Stephen Cockburn

Stephen Cockburn is a seasoned professional in the fields of human rights, climate change, and social justice, currently serving as the Deputy Director at Amnesty International since April 2014. With a focus on health, housing, social security, and workers' rights, Stephen has led significant global campaigns, including efforts for equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines and addressing the exploitation of migrant workers in Qatar. Previous roles include managing Oxfam’s West Africa campaigns, directing programs in Ghana, and coordinating international campaigns for WaterAid and the UK Consortium on AIDS & International Development. Stephen's educational background includes a Master of Science in Development Economics and International Development from LSE, a Master of Arts in Political Science from The University of Edinburgh, and ongoing participation in a Senior Leadership Development Programme at Syracuse University.
