Michelle Buckmire, CEBS, SPHR has over 20 years of experience in human resources and benefits management. Michelle began their career as a Benefits Analyst at Providence Hospital, where they administered various benefit programs and acted as a liaison between employees and vendors. Michelle then joined the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as a Benefits Manager, overseeing the compliance and administration of retirement and savings programs. After that, they worked as a Benefits Manager at DC Water and Sewer Authority, where they had overall responsibility for benefits administration and compliance. Most recently, Michelle served as the Chief Human Capital Officer at Amtrak Office of Inspector General, where they played a crucial role in managing the human resources function. Throughout their career, Michelle has demonstrated expertise in benefits administration, vendor relations, and implementation, along with a strong focus on compliance and budget management.

Michelle Buckmire, CEBS, SPHR, has a strong educational background in insurance and business administration. Michelle obtained their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Insurance from Howard University, where they studied from 1983 to 1987. Following this, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration at Campbell University from 1992 to 1994.

In addition to their education, Michelle has acquired several certifications to enhance their professional knowledge and skills. Michelle obtained the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist® (CEBS) U.S. certification from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) in March 2004. Later, in October 2013, they earned the Strategic HR Business Partner (sHRBP) certification from the Human Capital Institute (HCI). Michelle also holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential, which they obtained from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) in August 2018. Most recently, in May 2021, they completed the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate program offered by USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
