Elisa Porcel

Director Of Process Development at Amyris

Elisa Porcel began their work experience in 2004 as a Visiting Research Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis. In 2006, they became a Post-doc at UC Berkeley, where they studied strategies to decrease product toxicity in biofuels production in bacterial fermentations, selected and purchased fermentation equipment for a new academic laboratory, and studied the mechanism of enzymatic degradation of cellulose. In 2008, they joined Amyris Inc. as a Scientist II, where they modeled the effect of heterogeneities and other scale factors. In 2011, they joined Amyris as Director of Process Development, and subsequently held the roles of Associate Director of Process Development, Senior Scientist, and Scientist III. As Scientist III, they led a multidisciplinary team, developed project scope and created project plans, and identified project risks and risk mitigation strategies.

Elisa Porcel holds a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from Universidad de Almería, which they obtained between 2003 and 2006.
