Ninad Kothari has a diverse work experience. Ninad began their career in 2012, completing internships at Techno Drugs and Intermediates Pvt. Ltd. and SUN PHARMA. In 2013, they began a PhD Candidate role at the University of California, Riverside, where they developed and optimized consolidated bioprocessing with pretreatments for simplified, cost-effective production of fuel ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass. In 2018, they joined Amyris as a Scientist I, and subsequently held roles as Scientist 2 and Scientist 3. Ninad'sexpertise includes microbial cell culture, bench-top bioreactors, aerobic and anaerobic fermentation, upstream and downstream processing, yeast fermentation, Clostridium thermocellum, consolidated bioprocessing, thermophilic bacteria, raw material processing, enzymatic hydrolysis, process development, process design, and process optimization.

Ninad Kothari obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai in 2013. Ninad went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Riverside, which they completed in 2018. In addition, Ninad Kothari has obtained certifications in Metabolic Engineering for Industrial Biotechnoloy from UC San Diego Extended Studies in August 2019, Microbial Fermentation from UC San Diego Extended Studies in August 2019, and a BIO 2017 I-Corps Bio-Entrepreneurship Workshop from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in June 2017.
