Seham Afaghani

Seham Afaghani has worked in the fields of process analytical chemistry and chromatography since 2011. Seham began their career as a Senior Associate Scientist, Process Analytical Chemistry at Amyris, before becoming a Fermentation Manager and then a Senior Associate Scientist, Chromatography. In this role, they were a line manager and project liaison for the Screening and Analytics department, and was responsible for GC-FID method development. In 2011, they also began working at Biosearch Technologies as a Research and Development Technician, where they performed small molecule stability studies using fluorescence spectroscopy and MS, as well as dye synthesis and drawing product structures with ChemDraw for the website.

Seham Afaghani obtained their B.S. in Chemistry from Mills College in 2011. Seham then went on to receive a Certificate in Permaculture Design from the Regenerative Design Institute in 2015.
