Mikael Pelz, PhD began their educational journey at the University of Sioux Falls, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Media Studies in 1998. Mikael then continued their studies at the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a Master of Arts in American Politics in 2002. In 2009, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in American Politics & Public Policy from the same university.
