Thabani Dhlakama has worked for a number of organizations since 2009. At Yale University, they worked as a Student Assistant for the Office for International Students and Scholars from 2009 to 2011, and as a Data Entry Specialist in the Provost's Office in 2011. Thabani also worked as a Residential and Teaching Assistant for the S.C.H.O.L.A.R. Program - Science Collaborative Hands-On Learning and Research from 2011 to 2012, and as an Operations Assistant for the Pulmonary and Critical Care Department at Yale University School of Medicine from 2012 to 2013.
