Timothy Gerla

Timothy Gerla has a diverse work experience spanning across various roles and companies. Timothy is currently working as an Open Source Community Manager at Anchore, where they contribute to open source projects Syft and Grype. Previously, they served as the CEO of Talos Systems Inc. from April 2019 to August 2020.

Prior to that, Timothy worked as a Senior Principal Software Engineer at Red Hat from January 2018 to March 2019. Timothy also played a significant role in Ansible, where they served as Co-Founder and CTO from February 2015 to November 2015, leading the technological aspects of the company until its acquisition by Red Hat. Additionally, they held the position of Co-Founder and VP Services and Support at Ansible from February 2013 to January 2015, overseeing customer-facing activities.

Before joining Ansible, Timothy worked at Eucalyptus Systems Inc. as the Director of Solutions Architecture from September 2012 to March 2013 and as a Sales Engineer from January 2010 to September 2012. Timothy was responsible for various tasks, including technical sales, demonstrations, proof of concept deployment, and marketing content generation.

Prior to Eucalyptus Systems Inc., Timothy worked at rPath, Inc. in multiple roles. As a Field Engineer from September 2007 to December 2009, they supported sales activities and delivered presentations to technical and non-technical audiences. Timothy also served as a Lead Software Engineer from May 2004 to September 2007, leading the development of rBuilder and Update Service products.

Timothy's early work experience includes a programming role at Outsource Financial Services, where they developed applications using PHP, Python/PyGtk, and PostgreSQL. Timothy also handled system administration tasks and integrated mortgage and finance documents in various formats.

Timothy Gerla completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Management from the University of Minnesota Crookston from 1999 to 2003. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a North Carolina Certified Burner from the State of North Carolina in March 2022.
