Karen Thomson ChFCIPP MSc FHEA Dip has a wealth of experience in the payroll and human resources field. Karen currently holds the role of UK Payroll Director at AAB, where they are dedicated to contributing to the team and providing excellent customer service. Prior to joining AAB, Karen was a Partner at Armstrong Watson, where they served as the Head of payroll services and People. In this role, they ensured exceptional delivery of payroll requirements and oversaw the management of the People Services department. Before their time at Armstrong Watson, Karen worked as a Director of Group Payroll Services, overseeing a large team of payroll professionals at the same company. Karen has also had teaching roles in the industry, serving as a Tutor and MSc Lecturer/Mentor at the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals. Additionally, they have held the position of Associate Director of Policy, Research & Strategic Visibility at the same institute. Karen's early career includes roles as Payroll Manager at Carlisle City Council and Two Castle Housing Association. Karen Thomson ChFCIPP MSc FHEA Dip has a diverse education history. In 1998-2000, Karen completed a diploma in Payroll Management at the University of Worcester. In 2007-2010, they obtained an MSc in Payroll and Business Management from the University of Derby. Later, in 2014-2015, they pursued a Master's Degree in the field of Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Development Studies (Work Based Learning) from the same university. Karen has also earned additional certifications, including becoming a CIPP Chartered Member and a Chartered member from The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) in June 2022.
