Yun-Ya Yang

Senior Scientist at Andes

Dr. Yun-Ya Yang is a Senior Scientist at Andes, a position they have held since December 2021. Prior to this, they were a Principal Faculty Specialist at the University of Maryland from May 2018 to December 2021. Her research in Maryland focused on soil health and nutrient management, and they collaborated with Colorado State University and USDA NRCS to assess the effects of agricultural management (e.g., use of cover crops) on soil organic carbon and soil health metrics. Yun-Ya also led a project to investigate how and when nutrient losses from crop production systems. Ultimately, they plan to translate their research findings into transformative approaches that efficiently enhance soil health and reduce water contamination.

Dr. Yang began their career as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of Florida from March 2012 to August 2017. Yun-Ya then transitioned to a Research Scientist role at Thin Air Nitrogen Solutions LLC from April 2011 to February 2012.

They are on a team with Michael Guzman - Scientist, Christopher Yip - Scientist, and Lina Leon - Scientist. Yun-Ya Yang reports to Bjorn Traag, CSO.
