Matthew Weinger serves as a Professor and Vice Chair at Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, as well as the Director of the Center for Research and Innovation in Systems Safety at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2005. In addition to these roles, Weinger has held the position of Secretary for the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation since 1993 and has been a Senior Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiologists since 1998. Previous experience includes serving as Director for the AAMI Foundation from 2011 to 2017 and a Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of California San Diego from 1987 to 2004. Weinger earned a Doctor of Medicine from UC San Diego School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Stanford University.
