Chief Executive Officer at Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse

Jennifer Gabrenya has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, with a focus on violence prevention and advocacy. Jennifer has served as the Chief Executive Officer for Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse since 2016, where they provide comprehensive services and works to prevent harm in families affected by domestic violence. Prior to that, they were the Chief Executive Officer at the Center for Disability Services, where they improved the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families. Jennifer also served as the Director of Programs at Family Shelter Service, overseeing the delivery of various programs and managing government grants. Jennifer has experience in grant administration and budget negotiation from their role as Assistant Director of Grant Programs at the Illinois Violence Prevention Authority. Jennifer's earlier experiences include positions at La Rabida Children's Hospital, Will County Children's Advocacy Center, and Rainbow House, where they focused on administration, advocacy, and program coordination.

Jennifer Gabrenya obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Public Service from DePaul University in the years 2000 to 2004. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Women's Studies from DePaul University from 1994 to 1998. In addition to their degrees, Jennifer also holds certifications including Natural Areas Conservation Training from The Morton Arboretum, Danger Assessment Certification from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Nonprofit Strategy: Planning & Positioning for the Future from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, and an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional certification from ICDVP, Inc.
