Joe Swartley has significant work experience in various roles and industries. Joe started their career at Sierra Club as a Campaign Intern in 2008. Joe then worked as a Research Assistant at the Roberts Environmental Center from 2007 to 2009. Following that, they joined the Lowe Institute of Political Economy as a Research Assistant from 2009 to 2011.
In 2011, Joe joined Bloom Energy as a Recruiter/Sourcer and later became a Senior Marketing Associate. In this role, they were responsible for designing and launching Bloom's first software product, managing sales collateral, and leading product performance discussions with customers. Joe also co-managed a $25M quarterly service budget and negotiated deals with high-profile clients. Joe'stenure at Bloom Energy lasted from 2011 to 2017.
Joe then worked as a Summer Consultant at d.light in 2018, gaining experience in the solar energy industry. In 2019, they joined Angaza as a Business Development Consultant and later took on the role of Special Projects. Joe is currently serving as the Vice President of Strategic Operations at Angaza, where they play a crucial role in redefining how products like solar home systems and smartphones are purchased, enabling over 2 billion people worldwide to affordably acquire transformative products.
Joe Swartley attended Los Gatos High School from 2003 to 2007. Joe then went on to study at Claremont McKenna College from 2007 to 2011, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on Environment, Economics, Politics (EEP) and Spanish. In 2010, Joe also had a brief educational experience at the University of Buenos Aires, studying Latin American Environmental Policy. Later, from 2017 to 2019, they pursued a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, specializing in Energy and Clean Technology.
