Debbie Vallandingham

Debbie joined the Angela Hospice team in 2010, first as an intern and then as a volunteer, while pursuing her Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University. After graduation, she worked as a medical social worker in the Angela Hospice Care Center. In 2016, she joined the Bereavement Department, working with grieving children and adults. Debbie achieved accreditation from the Academy of Certified Social Workers in 2016, and was promoted to Bereavement Manager in 2019. As Bereavement Manager and certified grief counseling specialist, Debbie oversaw the successful transition of Grief Care programming to a fully virtual format in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Debbie also works as a registered therapy animal team with Piper, a toy fox terrier, through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. In July of 2021, Debbie was promoted to Director of Grief Care Services.
