Anglican Church Southern Queensland

The Diocese includes an area of more than 500,000km2 and stretches from the borders of NT, SA & NSW and extends north to Bundaberg. Serving the estimated 750,000 Anglicans in the Diocese are 467 clergy in 305 churches. The clergy form an integral part of the faith community and includes Archdeacons, Canons, Priests, Deacons and lay people serving in various ministries. The Most Reverend Archbishop Dr Phillip Aspinall leads the organisation and also is the Primate of the Anglican Church of Australia. Dr Aspinall is assisted in the Church by The Right Reverend Cameron Venables, Bishop of the Western Region; The Right Reverend Jeremy Greaves, Bishop of the Northern Region; and The Right Reverend Alison Taylor, Bishop of the Southern Region. With the aim of the whole church engaged in the whole mission, the organisation provides much needed services for the community through its six departments: Anglican Schools Office; Anglicare Southern Queensland; Corporate Services; Financial Services; Ministry Education; and Local Church Mission. Through their committed workers and volunteers the commissions provide ministry, outreach and care to Anglicans and the wider community. From parishes and schools to residential care facilities, community care and social service programs to theological education and financial services each commission undertakes a significant part of the Church’s work.
