Terry Briggs

Terry Briggs is the current Chief Development Officer at AngloGold Ashanti.

Briggs began their career in 1997 as a Production & Exploration Geoscientist for Pasminco, Teck - Western Metals, and Gold Fields. In December 2005, they transitioned to Operations Management for Gold Fields | Oz Minerals | Dundee Precious Metals. Terry held various positions including Technical Services Manager, Chelopech Underground Cu-Au Mine, Bulgaria; Resource Superintendent, Sepon Open Pit Cu-Au Mine, Laos; and Acting Mine Geology Manager, St. Ives Au Camp, Western Australia.

In December 2008, Briggs joined Newmont Corporation as Vice President Planning in the Corporate Business Planning department. Terry was promoted to General Manager Regional Integration for the South American Leadership Team in 2010 and Senior Director Corporate Development for the Strategic Development Group in 2012. Terry left Newmont Corporation in March 2022 to assume their current role as Chief Development Officer at AngloGold Ashanti.

Terry Briggs has a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Bachelor of Science (Hon.) in Geology and Civil Engineering from Monash University, and an Associate Diploma of Science from the University of Melbourne.

They work with Stewart Bailey - Chief Sustainability & Corporate Affairs Officer, Ludwig Eybers - COO, and Marcelo Godoy - CTO. Terry Briggs reports to Alberto Calderon, CEO & Executive Director.
