MOHS Surgeon at Anne Arundel Dermatology

Dr. Lisa Renfro specializes in Mohs surgery and dermatologic surgery, she is a board-certified dermatologist who has performed over 12,000 Mohs surgeries and over 20,000 surgical excisions for skin cancer.

Over the years, Dr. Renfro has treated basal cell carcinoma, melanoma, sebaceous carcinoma, extramammary Paget’s disease, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and microcystic adnexal carcinoma. She has performed more than 1,000 malignant melanoma excisions.

Among the region’s most recognized dermatologic surgeons, Dr. Renfro graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Connecticut. Her first undergraduate degree was conferred by Syracuse University. She attended medical school at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and trained in internal medicine at Boston University. She completed her dermatology residency at New York University’s Skin and Cancer Hospital where she was appointed chief resident. She has served on the faculty of New York University as a clinical instructor at New York University Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. After receiving her board certification in general dermatology, she completed specialty fellowship training in dermatologic surgery and Mohs surgery, also at New York University’s Skin and Cancer Hospital.

Dr. Renfro’s science research at New York University focused on cellular biology. Clinical research experience includes studies with laser systems. Published numerous times in peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, she has also written abstracts, a chapter and a book. A leader in Mohs surgery, she speaks and presents locally and nationally on scientific, dermatologic, laser, skin care and skin cancer topics.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons, Dr. Renfro is a member of the Washington D.C. Dermatologic Society and the Maryland Dermatologic Society.

She has served as a consultant for the American Academy of Dermatology, chairman for Maryland of the Dermatology Foundation and participant on the Derm Infonet Task Force. Dr. Renfro was named a professional expert consultant to Med Chi of Maryland and has served as a professional consultant for major insurance carriers. She is an attending physician at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Dr. Renfro maintains current and active specialty board certification in dermatology, having successfully completed the required recertification exam in the past 10 years.
