Debbie Ponchner is an accomplished editor and journalist with extensive experience in communication and media. Currently serving as the Editor of Knowable en español at Annual Reviews since May 2022, Debbie previously held the role of Vice-Provost for Communications at ULACIT from December 2020 to May 2022, where management of a ten-member communication team was a key responsibility. Debbie's tenure at Scientific American spanned from September 2014 to April 2022, initially as the Spanish-language editor, where the Spanish language site was developed from inception, and later as a freelance journalist, contributing to multiple prestigious publications. With a robust background in management, Debbie also led a newsroom of over 150 professionals at La Nación in Costa Rica for nearly a decade, driving various editorial projects and sections. Educational credentials include a Knight Science Journalism Fellowship at MIT and a Master’s in Science and Medicine Communication from Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
