Thomas Barker Fhea

Thomas Barker PhD FHEA is a seasoned academic and professional with extensive experience in the fields of media, communication, and cultural sociology, particularly focused on Southeast Asia and Indonesia. Currently serving as the Government Relations Manager at Creative Australia since January 2025 and an Honorary Associate Professor at The Australian National University since March 2022, Thomas also holds a position as Research Affiliate and Head of School at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. Thomas's previous roles include various academic and research positions, policy development in Australian screen industries, and contributions to renowned institutions such as UCLA and National Chengchi University. Thomas holds a PhD in Sociology from the National University of Singapore and has complemented this education with several advanced degrees focused on critical theory and higher education administration.
