Professor/director, Masters Of Philosophy (applied Epidemiology) Program at The Australian National University

Tony Stewart is a Professor and Director of the Masters of Philosophy (Applied Epidemiology) Program at The Australian National University, leading Australia’s only accredited Field Epidemiology Training Program. Alongside this role, Tony serves as an Honorary Senior Fellow and Medical Epidemiologist at the Burnet Institute, focusing on infectious and vaccine-preventable diseases in the Asia/Pacific region. With extensive experience as an Assistant Surgeon in various specialties, Tony has also co-founded Claiming.com.au, established Cutting Edge Software, and contributed significantly to public health efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic through various positions, including Medical Epidemiologist roles with the Victorian Aged Care Response Centre and the National Incident Room. Additionally, Tony held a senior position with the World Health Organization's Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network, significantly influencing international public health responses to major outbreaks. Educational qualifications include a Masters of Applied Epidemiology from The Australian National University and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Monash University.
