The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior (Hardware) Systems Engineer to join our manipulation effort. You will take Full Responsibility of the hardware systems engineering to deliver a state-of-the-art, robust, high performing and user friendly mobile manipulation platform for industrial inspection. This platform is intended to drive customer value by providing enhanced capabilities for inspecting and maintaining industrial equipment and infrastructure. The scope of your work will include the systems engineering, hardware product development and the systems integration of manipulation capabilities for our autonomous legged robots ANYmal and ANYmal X. 

The complexity of our robotic systems requires a seamless collaboration across multiple disciplines including electrical, mechanical, software engineering and product management. We thrive on lively teamwork, leveraging the expertise of each member to ensure the success of our products. Hence, together as One Team with our Manipulation AI Engineers, Product Designers, Manipulation Product Manager and other engineering teams you will build a unique mobile manipulation solution for industrial inspection while ensuring our robotics systems meet and exceed industry standards.

Your Contributions

  • Take a major role in the design and development of novel platforms for mobile manipulation for industrial inspection.
  • Drive the integration effort of the  mobile manipulation hardware with our existing robotic platform
  • Collaborate early and often with the product manager to ensure a high value, robust and reliable solution is being developed addressing all customer needs.
  • Incorporate design of manufacturing approaches into our systems and collaborate with production experts to de-risk core manufacturing and sourcing aspects of the solutions early on the technology and product development process
  • Support a culture of fast learning and de-risking of new technologies while continuously finding creative ways to speed up the development process
  • Manage partnerships with external engineering companies and key suppliers to expand our capabilities

Your Profile

  • Engineering or science degree with a focus on mechatronics, mechanical, electrical engineering or robotics
  • Excellent at system design and architecture for manipulation with sensors, actuators, transmission, networking etc
  • Excellent at CAD and, the kinematic and dynamic analysis of electromechanical systems
  • Strong at generating innovative solutions to technical challenges
  • Strong in self-coordination and able to plan, execute, and deliver outcomes for complex projects
  • Good at developing and conducting tests to ensure the system meets performance, reliability, and functionality standards.
  • Good command of English both written and spoken
  • Interested in creating and maintaining detailed documentation of the system design, configuration, and procedures
