Wanqi Zhu

Wanqi Zhu is a highly skilled research scientist at Anysphere since July 2025, specializing in machine learning. Prior to this role, Wanqi held positions as a quantitative researcher at Jane Street from August 2021 to June 2025, and an economist intern at Lyft during the summer of 2020, where data science and statistical analysis were utilized for product and business improvements. Experience also includes a quantitative research intern role at Jane Street in summer 2019, and various internships in software engineering and machine learning, including work at Improbable and Aura Health Inc. Wanqi co-founded and served as CTO for WillowFlare, a market research firm. Academic credentials include a degree from Stanford University and a master's program at the University of Chicago, where contributions to the Algorithms and Discrete Math courses were made as a TA/grader. Projects include research on journal ranking metrics using Web of Science data.
