Dean Catoggio

Assistant Director, NIFS at ANZPAA

Dean Catoggio began their career in law enforcement with the Victoria Police in 1989. Dean worked their way up the ranks, eventually becoming a forensic manager in the Digital & Document Evidence Branch of the Forensic Services Department. In this role, they were responsible for the quality and timeliness of forensic audio and visual services. Dean also ensured that these services operated within ISO 17025 testing laboratory framework.

In 2012, Dean was temporarily assigned to the National Institute of Forensic Science within ANZPAA. In this role, they served as a senior forensic project officer.

In 2013, Dean returned to Victoria Police as a scientific advisor for the Forensic Operations Organisational Review. Dean held this position until 2015 when they transitioned to their current role as assistant director of NIFS at ANZPAA.

They are on a team with Milan Orgad - Principal Innovation & Research, Jacqueline Durand - Acting Director, Strategy, and Louise Cleary - Assistant Director, Business Operations and Communications. Their manager is Tracey Green, CEO.
