Darlene Murdock, MSN, BBA, RN, CNOR, CSSM, has been a dedicated Registered Nurse IV at Memorial Hermann Health System since December 1993, recognized as an 'Expert' in the Professional Nurse Advancement Program. In this role, Murdock performs circulating nurse responsibilities, including patient assessment and operating room preparation, while developing and coordinating specialized evidence-based nursing care plans for critically injured patients. Additionally, Murdock serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for AORN, managing the association's affairs since April 2020. Murdock holds a Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

AORN is a non-profit membership association based in Denver, Colorado that represents the interests of more than 160,000 perioperative nurses by providing nursing education, standards, and clinical practice resources—including the peer-reviewed, monthly publication AORN Journal—to enable optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. AORN’s 42,000 registered nurse members manage, teach, and practice perioperative nursing, are enrolled in nursing education, or are engaged in perioperative research. We define and advance best nursing practices for surgical patients by researching and distributing scientifically based recommendations.
