David Taylor

David Taylor is a seasoned professional in marine ecology and aquaculture, currently serving as the Technical Director at Aquaculture New Zealand since September 2018, where responsibilities include managing the Innovation and Technical, and Biosecurity portfolios to promote sustainable aquaculture in New Zealand. In addition, David holds directorships at the Aotearoa New Zealand Seaweed Association and The New Zealand Spirit Company Limited, which focuses on the food and beverage sector. Previously, David worked as a Senior Marine Scientist at Cawthron Institute, conducting research on aquaculture environmental interactions and coastal habitats, and held academic positions at the University of Canterbury and NIWA, culminating in a Ph.D. in Zoology and Marine Ecology from the University of Canterbury. David's extensive educational background also includes a BSc. (Hons.) in Marine Ecology and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology.
