Embedded Engineer at APANA

Quae Atwood started working at Western Washington University Communications and Technology Services in April 2013 as a Network Technician. In this role, they were responsible for installing and maintaining physical network infrastructure, troubleshooting connection paths and network devices, and mapping and supporting wireless coverage areas. They held this position until April 2016.

In March 2016, they joined Shannon Point Marine Center as a Youth Program Instructor. In this position, they designed and taught an after-school ROV building class for 5th through 7th grade students. The class focused on principles of oceanic engineering and included designing and implementing a wired, underwater robot. This program concluded with a mock competition and a demonstration at the local harbor during the Anacortes Waterfront Festival. Their role with Shannon Point Marine Center ended in May 2016.

In April 2016, Quae Atwood became a Research Assistant at Western Washington University Department of Engineering and Design, working under Dr. Andy Klein. They contributed to the development of innovative 3rd and 4th-year electrical engineering curriculum and materials. The research, funded by a grant from the Office of Naval Research, aimed to investigate the effects of including elements of Gaming, Making, and Tinkering in electrical engineering education. They held this role until June 2017.
