Dennis Amari

Senior Director, Tech & Telecom Policy at APCO Worldwide

Dennis Amari has extensive experience in the field of tech and telecom policy. Dennis is currently working as a Senior Director of Tech & Telecom Policy at APCO Worldwide. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Federal and Regulatory Affairs at Huawei Technologies from 2011 to 2022. In this role, they engaged with government officials on public policies, regulations, and legislation that affected the company's business. Dennis also conducted research, prepared briefing materials, and provided recommendations to senior management.

Before their role at Huawei Technologies, Amari worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce - National Telecommunications & Information Association as a Senior Policy Advisor/Attorney from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, Amari held the position of Director of Government Affairs at Bell Communications Research, Inc. from 1990 to 1998. Dennis represented the company before government officials on telecommunications engineering, standards, and network operations policy matters.

Amari began their career in 1980 as a Congressional Intern in the U.S. House of Representatives. Dennis then worked as a Legislative Assistant at the American Arts Alliance and Legislative Director at the American Association of Museums.

Throughout their career, Amari has demonstrated expertise in policy analysis, regulatory affairs, and government relations within the tech and telecom industry.

Dennis Amari began their education at The College of Wooster, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from 1979 to 1983. Dennis then went on to The George Washington University to earn a Master of Arts in Legislative Affairs from 1990 to 1992. Finally, they attended the American University Washington College of Law from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Juris Doctor degree in Law.
