Al Troner is an experienced professional in the energy sector with a career spanning several decades. Since January 1995, Al Troner has served as President of APEC. Prior to this role, Al Troner worked at Energy Intelligence Group from November 1988 to February 1995 as Asia Pacific Manager for Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, where responsibilities included establishing and managing the regional office based in Singapore. Al Troner's earlier experience includes a role as a Research Associate at East West Center in 1988, where economic geography studies were conducted, and as a Rome Correspondent for Daily Express from 1980 to 1983. Al Troner holds a Master's degree in Economic Geography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Bachelor's degree in History from Stony Brook University.
