Derek Falcone

Derek Falcone has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Derek currently holds the position of Staff Engineer and Program Lead at Apeel Labs, where they have been working since April 2022. Prior to this, Derek worked as a Staff Engineer in Process Development at Apeel from September 2021 to March 2022. Before joining Apeel, Derek was a Senior Engineer II in Process Development at Apeel from December 2018 to September 2021. Derek started their career at Apeel as a Senior Scientist in Catalyst and Method Development, where they worked from September 2017 to December 2018.

Before their time at Apeel, Derek worked as a Scientist at SABIC from August 2015 to August 2017. Prior to that, they were a PhD student and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia from August 2010 to August 2015. Derek also gained experience as a Visiting Researcher at Haldor Topsoe A/S in September 2012. Derek started their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Delaware from September 2009 to May 2010, and also worked as an IGERT SURE Research Assistant at the same institution from May 2009 to August 2009. Derek began their professional journey as a Project Assistant at Siemens in May 2008.

Derek Falcone completed their Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree in Sustainable Energy Technologies at the University of Delaware from 2006 to 2010. Derek then pursued their PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Virginia from 2010 to 2015.
