Stephen Kaun

Stephen Kaun has a diverse work experience in the field of technology and product development. Stephen currently holds the position of Senior Director, Technology at Apeel. Prior to this, they worked as the Director, Product Development at the same company. Stephen also served as the Associate Director of Materials R&D and Head of Barrier Development at Apeel. Before joining Apeel, Stephen worked as a Senior Product Engineer at the company from 2015 to 2016. Before that, they worked at UC Santa Barbara as a Postdoc from 2014 to 2015 and as a Grad Student Researcher from 2008 to 2014. Stephen also has experience working at INVENTEK CORP as a Battery Architecture Engineer from 2004 to 2008.

Stephen Kaun earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Materials Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they attended from 2004 to 2008. Afterward, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Materials Science at UC Santa Barbara, completing their studies from 2008 to 2014. Stephen has also obtained additional certifications in subjects such as Designing Product Families and Product Strategy from prestigious institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management, respectively.
