Energy Transition - New Business Director at Aperam

Gilles Bourgain has a diverse work experience in the energy industry. Gilles started their career as a Project Engineer at Gaz de France - Research & Development in 2001, working on natural gas for vehicles. In 2004, they became a Project Manager at GDF SUEZ, focusing on CO2 long-term mitigation strategies. In 2006, they joined GDF SUEZ - Research & Innovation as a Senior Project Manager, specializing in renewable and distributed energy resources. During this time, they also served as the coordinator of the EU-DEEP project on Distributed Energy Resources integration.

In 2010, Bourgain joined Tractebel Engineering - Engie Group as the Head of Group in Power System Consulting, before becoming the Product Director for Power System Consulting in 2012. From 2015 to 2016, they served as the Energy Transition Department Director at Tractebel.

Bourgain then transitioned to ENGIE in 2016, working as the Strategy Deputy Director until 2019. After that, they served as the Deputy CEO at Tractebel from 2019 to 2021. Currently, Bourgain holds the position of Energy Transition - New Business Director at Aperam since 2022.

Gilles Bourgain attended CentraleSupélec from 1997 to 2000, where they focused on Innovation, Design, and Production. In 1999, they also studied at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, completing the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales program.
