Matthew T. has a wealth of experience in the aerospace and technology industries. Matthew began their career in 1995 as a Programmer for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. In 1997, they moved on to become a Staff Programmer for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2000, they became an Engineer for Process Control at Johnson Controls. In 2001, they joined NASA as a Software Engineer for Launch Systems Development. Matthew also worked as an Independent Contractor for Ground Processing and Launch Operations Support System Development from 2003 to the end of the space shuttle program. In 2003, they founded ARES Institute, Inc. and became its CEO. Matthew also served as the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Zero-G News from 2003 to 2016. In 2016, they co-founded Aphelion Orbitals, where they served as President and was responsible for the engineering design of the company's propulsion system and launch vehicle hardware and software. Finally, in 2019 they founded Aphelion Aerospace, where they serve as Founder, CTO, President, and Director. Matthew leads the company's engineering team and serves on the Board of Directors.
Matthew T. attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1988 to 1990, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Matthew then returned to the same university from 1993 to 1997, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
