Dr. Segun Akintayo possesses extensive experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety, currently serving as Head of Global Pharmacovigilance at Apotex Inc. since 2015. Prior roles include Medical Director and Safety Development Leader at GSK from 2011 to 2015, Director of Pharmacovigilance and Risk Management at Shire Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda) from 2009 to 2011, Associate Director of Drug Safety and Public Health at Gilead Sciences Ltd from 2008 to 2009, and Global Drug Safety Physician at Roche from 2005 to 2008. Academic qualifications include a Fellowship from the West African College of Physicians in Internal Medicine with a focus on Nephrology and an MBBS with Distinctions in Anatomy and Pharmacology from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine. Expertise encompasses drug safety, pharmacovigilance, signal detection and evaluation, and risk management.
