Senior Inclusive UX Researcher at Applause

Fatima Khawaja has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Fatima began their career as a UX Project Analyst at e World Wide Group in May 2005 and later moved on to become a Project Manager/HCI Engineer from April 2006 to October 2008. In 2010, Fatima worked as an HR Coordinator at GLOBAL AIRLINE SERVICES LONDON LTD for two years. Following this, they worked as a UI/UX Expert as a Freelance HCI Engineer from March 2012 to March 2015. Currently, Fatima is employed at Applause as an Inclusive UX Researcher since March 2015 and has recently been promoted to the role of Senior Inclusive UX Researcher as of August 2022. In their current position, Fatima collaborates with various project/product managers, business analysts, visual designers, and engineers. Their responsibilities include creating personas, user journeys, UX architecture maps, and conducting usability and accessibility testing for desktop, tablets, and mobile applications.

Fatima Khawaja completed their Bachelor's in Software Engineering from Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi from 2001 to 2005. Fatima then pursued their Masters in Business Administration (International) from Anglia Ruskin University, which they completed in 2011 with a focus on International Business.

Additionally, Fatima has obtained a number of certifications related to web accessibility and user interface design. In 2022, they achieved the Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA) and Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certifications from IAAP - International Association of Accessibility Professionals. In 2021, they obtained the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certification from the same institution.

Furthermore, Fatima has completed various online courses and specializations to enhance their skills. These include the edX Verified Certificate for Introduction to Web Accessibility in 2020, Agile Development Practices and UX Foundations: Accessibility from LinkedIn in 2018, and several courses from the University of Minnesota (Coursera) in 2017, including Evaluating User Interfaces, Introduction to UI Design, Prototyping and Design, and User Research and Design.
