Miriam Smyth is an experienced counsel in the Regulatory Group at Appleby, having joined the firm in July 2021. Prior to this role, Miriam served as a Senior Associate in the Financial Services Regulatory Group at McCann FitzGerald from May 2016 to May 2021, where advice was provided to banks, asset management firms, and private equity firms on financial services regulatory, corporate governance, and compliance issues. Additional experience includes roles at Bank of Ireland advising on derivatives and structured products, compliance and corporate governance at DEPFA Bank PLC, and assistance to enforcement lawyers at the Central Bank of Ireland. Miriam's educational background includes a Master's in Social Policy from University of Galway and various diplomas in finance law and compliance. Admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in both England & Wales and Ireland, Miriam has a strong foundation in financial regulation and compliance.
