Ben Lang

Senior Scientist, Biology at Applied BioMath

Ben received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Monash University in 2014 under the supervision of John Price. His thesis focused on the role of Heat Shock Factor-1 in the pathogenesis of lung, breast, and gastric cancers. Ben then moved to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to commence postdoctoral training in the Calderwood lab where he studied cellular responses to radiation treatment and DNA damage, and the role of heat shock proteins in oncogenic signaling and mammary tumor metastasis. Ben was also involved in several collaborative efforts directed towards understanding how heat shock proteins influence inflammation and immunity and more recently, the utilization of RNA-seq data to predict relative immune cell populations within tumors. Ben is driven to contribute to improved treatments for disease through scientific excellence and effective teamwork.
