Nafeez Zia, MA, MBA, ASQ-CSSGB

Nafeez Zia has a diverse work experience in quality assurance, compliance, and chemistry roles. Nafeez currently works at Applied DNA Sciences, where they hold the position of Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance. Prior to this, they served as the Associate Director and Manager of Quality Assurance and Compliance at the same company. Their responsibilities include ensuring that products, processes, facilities, and systems adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements, as well as conducting literature research on raw materials and reviewing and approving various procedures and reports.

Before joining Applied DNA Sciences, Nafeez worked at L'Oréal as a Senior Corporate Industrial Quality Chemist. In this role, they wrote dossier types for new diversification dossiers, conducted literature searches to define raw materials, identified test methods, and adjusted or developed new methods when necessary.

Earlier in their career, Nafeez worked at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., where they held the positions of QC/QA Analytical Chemist and R&D Chemist.

Nafeez Zia pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from Stony Brook University, which they obtained between the years 1997 and 2001. Nafeez then went on to the Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Biotechnology, completing their studies between 2004 and 2006. Continuing their educational journey, they attended Baruch College and earned an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Health Care Administration from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, Nafeez Zia obtained a certification as a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in December 2011.
