Chris Gundling has over 13 years of work experience. Chris began their career in 2004 as an Outdoor Guide for the American River Touring Association, where they organized and led week-long trips throughout the western U.S. From 2007 to 2013, they worked as a Principal Engineer at Northrop Grumman. In 2016, they joined Udacity as a Self Driving Car Nanodegree. In 2017, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Aptiv. From 2018 to present, they have worked at Applied Intuition as an Engineer and at a Series D Startup (applied.co) as a Senior Engineering Manager and Senior Software Engineer. At Udacity, they developed a simulated 'Universe' using Unity, SpatialOS and WRLD.

Chris Gundling's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from UC San Diego, which they obtained between 2002 and 2007. Chris then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they completed between 2007 and 2010. Following this, they obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wyoming between 2010 and 2013. Before attending UC San Diego, they also attended San Mateo Community College, where they studied Japanese Language in 2001-2002. In addition to their educational qualifications, Chris Gundling has obtained several certifications, including Matlab Optimization Methods from The MathWorks (obtained in September 2016), Matlab Data Processing and Visualization from The MathWorks (obtained in March 2016), Machine Learning from Coursera Course Certificates (obtained in January 2016), Matlab Programming Techniques from The MathWorks (obtained in September 2015), and ANSYS CFX from ANSYS, Inc. (obtained in July 2013).
