Dan Thompson is a Waterjet Specialist at Applied Power Products. Dan has over 10 years of experience in the manufacturing and engineering field. Dan started their career as a consultant at SOITEC, where they co-authored Manufacturing Resource Planning software to track research and development of epitaxial material systems. Dan then moved on to Trace Detect as a Sr. Field Engineer, where they were responsible for installing, maintaining and training of equipment at customer locations. Dan also designed databases for tracking tool performance and increasing customer awareness at all levels within the organization. Dan has applied lean concepts to product testing in the field to improve maintenance and reliability. The process improvements for diagnosing failures was to implement a new testing methods that focused on the use of inexpensive gauges to validate sub-system performance to newly created standards that were not dependent on chemical reactions or resources. These new methods decreased troubleshooting time by 75% and decreased future failures by 25%. The tools are used to detect heavy metals in potable water systems and waste streams. The purpose is to; incase of potable water to insure safe drinking water for human consumption and as to waste streams to prevent heavy metals from entering the environment i.e. coal fired utility plants, or mining operations.
Dan Thompson has an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Dan also has a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Western International University. Lastly, they have an Associate's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ITT Technical Institute (formerly Miller Institute / Arizona Tech).
