Principal OT Security Consultant at Applied Risk - Critical Infrastructure Made Secure

Chris Robinson has extensive work experience in the field of cybersecurity and information technology. Chris'smost recent position is as a Principal OT Security Consultant at Applied Risk - Critical Infrastructure Made Secure, starting in March 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as an Instructor at the SANS Institute since April 2016.

From December 2016 to November 2021, Chris was a Principal Consultant at BlackBerry (Formerly Cylance), where they provided expertise in cybersecurity. Before that, they served as an ICS Security Manager at Accenture from March 2016 to November 2016.

Chris also worked at Cimation as a Senior ICS Security Consultant from February 2015 to February 2016. Chris'sresponsibilities included ensuring the security of enterprise servers and workstations in ICS environments.

Earlier in their career, Chris held the position of IT/ICS Security Analyst at Sempra U.S. Gas & Power from March 2012 to February 2015. Chris played a key role in evaluating cybersecurity in multiple ICS environments, creating network diagrams, and administering endpoint security products.

From October 2009 to March 2012, Chris worked at SPAWAR as a Computer Scientist. Chris served as a team lead, software developer, and systems administrator for a government-owned website. Chris also conducted research and development using artificial intelligence techniques and authored technical proposals.

Chris has additional experience as an Adjunct Professor at San Diego Community College District in 2011 and as an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton from August 2004 to August 2007. At Booz Allen Hamilton, they managed a project evaluating NASA Centers for compliance with IT security requirements.

In the beginning of their career, Chris served in leadership and management roles as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy from May 1998 to August 2004, including overseas deployments in Italy and Djibouti, Africa.

Chris Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy, where they studied from 1994 to 1998. Chris later pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science at San Diego State University, completing the program from 2007 to 2009. In terms of certifications, Chris obtained a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in May 2007. Chris also holds several certifications from GIAC Certifications, including GIAC Information Security Professional (GISP) in July 2016, Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) in November 2014, GIAC Penetration Tester (GPEN) in October 2020, GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) in November 2019, and GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) in September 2017. Additionally, they obtained Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification from Offensive Security in May 2016 and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification from EC-Council in February 2013.
