Martine Ribbenvik Cassar has extensive experience in various roles, starting as a Legal Officer in the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2012. Martine served as the Head of Country Office at IOM - UN Migration from 2014 to 2016. Martine then held the position of Commissioner for Refugees at the Office of The Refugee Commissioner from 2016 to 2019. Martine later served as the Ambassador for UNSC Bid at the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs from 2019 to 2020. In 2018, Martine worked as an Advisor, Consultant, and Speaker on Corporate Sustainability and Human Rights before becoming the Director of Social Investments at Applied Value Group in October 2020. Additionally, they were a Lecturer at the University of Malta in 2017.

Martine Ribbenvik Cassar completed a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies at the University of Malta from 2002 to 2005. Martine then pursued a Doctor of Law degree at the same institution from 2002 to 2008. Additionally, they obtained a Master of Laws in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in 2009-2010.
