Keith Starling has had a long and varied career in the technology industry. Keith started out as a Draftsman for Rader-Starling & Associates in 2000, and then moved on to become a Developer for Tovaris. In 2006, they joined Rosetta Stone as a Senior Software Developer, where they designed and implemented a SCORM/AICC interface for their Version 3 product, and worked closely with Adobe's Live Cycle Collaborative Services team to prototype and develop collaborative games and a web-based classroom environment for language instruction. In 2012, Keith moved to PatientKeeper as a Principal Engineer/Architect, where they maintained and developed new features in a large Java-based server application, mentored junior developers, and developed and maintained internal tools with NodeJS, Electron, and React. In 2020, they were appointed Chief Technology Officer at Z-Rho In, and in 2021 they joined Apto Global as Director Of Technology, where they help people around the world find the ideal combination of tools and services to help them "adapt to life anywhere."

Keith Starling has a varied educational background. Keith began their studies at Piedmont Virginia Community College from 1998 to 2000, where they studied CAD and Computer Science. Keith then attended the University of Virginia from 2001 to 2002, but did not obtain a degree. Keith earned their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Randolph-Macon College in 2005. Keith then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Secure Software Engineering from James Madison University in 2009. In addition to their formal education, Keith Starling holds two certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² and Professional Scrum Master I from Scrum.org.
