Shawn Roman

Vice President of R&D at Apyx Medical Corp

Shawn Roman has extensive experience in the medical and engineering fields. Shawn is currently working as the Vice President of R&D at Apyx Medical since January 2019. Prior to that, they held the same position at Bovie Medical Corporation from June 2015 to December 2018. Shawn also worked as the Director of R&D at Bovie Medical Corporation from October 2014 to June 2015.

Shawn has also worked at Coorstek Medical formerly IMDS, where they served as the General Manager Co-Innovation FL from July 2014 to October 2014 and as the Engineering Manager from September 2011 to July 2014.

In their earlier years, Shawn held various roles at Biomet Microfixation, including Vice President of Research and Development from November 2005 to September 2011, Director of Development Engineering from May 2004 to November 2005, Senior Development Engineer from August 2002 to May 2004, and Development Engineer from August 1998 to August 2002. At Biomet Microfixation, they played a key role in implementing a stage gate process, creating a clinical research department, and launching successful new products.

Additionally, Shawn worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer and Development Engineer at Biomet Microfixation/Lorenz Surgical from August 1997 to August 1998, where they developed inspection methods, designed custom gauging, and established manufacturing procedures for products in the medical field.

Before entering the medical field, Shawn gained experience as a Plant Engineer at Temple-Inland from November 1996 to August 1997 and as a Project Engineer at International Paper from September 1994 to November 1996.

Shawn Roman obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Jacksonville University, where they attended from 1989 to 1992. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida from 1992 to 1994.
